Studio Recitals

About
Studio recitals provide an opportunity for students to perform on stage in a formal setting with an experienced piano accompanist, where the focus is on gaining performance experience and growing in a supportive and non-competitive environment.  The goal is not to achieve perfection but rather to develop confidence and musicianship skills through live performance.

Recitals are an excellent way for students to hone their performance skills, work towards a goal, feel inspired, learn from each other, build confidence and stage presence, and feel a sense of accomplishment.  They also provide an opportunity to make new friends and share music with others.  Studio Recitals are open to students of all ages and levels of study, making it a great way to start learning how to perform.

Piano Accompanist
Most music that students learn is intended to be performed with piano accompaniment.  Playing with an accompanist provides a complete performance experience and helps students learn ensemble and collaborative skills.

Piano accompanist rehearsals typically take place one week before the recital. During the rehearsal, students practice playing their music with piano accompaniment.  I will be at all rehearsals to assist and ensure things run smoothly.

Group Performance
The recital will close with two short group performances called The Studio Chamber Music Project.  Participating students will be grouped into different ensembles, Junior and Intermediate/Advanced, with each group performing an ensemble piece to close the recital.

The group performance is optional, and there is no extra charge to participate.  It is an enjoyable way for students to learn ensemble skills, make new friends, and come together to close out the recital.  Group music will be given out to learn in advance.  It will be manageable enough to put together in two rehearsals.

Video Performance Participation
Students unable to attend the recital due to geographical restrictions are welcome to submit a video recording to be played at the recital.

Photography, Video Recording, Live Stream, Warm-up Space, and Reception
The recital will be photographed and recorded, and I will share a copy of all media with participants.  A private Zoom livestream link will be available upon request for students, family members and friends who would like to watch the recital but are unable to attend in person.  A warm-up area will be available for all students before the recital, and a small reception will follow at the end of the recital.

Audience
The recital is a free, non-ticketed event open to the public.  There is no limit on audience capacity, and all are welcome to attend.

Recital Attire
The recital is a formal performance; participants are kindly asked to wear semi-formal or formal attire.
